How often do you clean your makeup brushes and sponges? Probably not often enough – if at all.

While you may not have ever thought about it, oil, makeup and BACTERIA build up on those brushes with every use. Then when transferred to your skin, that buildup and bacteria can clog pores, cause breakouts, and spread germs. It can even contaminate your makeup.

That’s why it’s so important to clean your makeup brushes regularly. And not just an occasional cleaning. Ideally, you should wash your brushes once a week, but at the very least, once every two weeks.

For sponges and blenders, they should be washed every time you use them. And many of these are not intended for long term use, so be sure to replace them every few months.
